My name is Jeremy P. Lincicum, I’m running for Congress as a Independent in the 12th District of Illinois. The main reason I am running is our current two party system is beyond broken. Both parties are more concerned with playing politics and winning empty political victories then doing the work of the American people. The term ‘civil servant’ no longer excess in Congress. If you have only casually watched events in congress in the past few years, civil would the last word that comes to mind. As for the servant part, well if you are a wealthy donor or lobbyist then I am sure you have few complaints about being served by Congress. If you are the rest of the country, we have been left behind long ago within the hall of Congress. This will end if I am elected to Congress.
Our current Congress spends at least half of their time in D.C. asking donors for money to get re-elected, instead of working with other members of Congress to solve the major problems in our country. It’s ok to disagree with our political opponents, but compromise is not a dirty word, it’s how problems get solved in a democracy.
Little will get done in this country till we begin to live within our means. Most of us live within the budget of our income, so shall Congress. If elected I will, with other members of Congress, take a hard look at ALL government spending and begin the responsible cutting of our budget based on need and results, not political beliefs. Then I will throw out our current behemoth of a tax code and start over from scratch. We all should be paying our share of taxes. This goes for people and businesses. I am confident that we can come up with a simple and fair way to pay our taxes.
Lastly, I will stand up for the most vulnerable people in our country, the elderly, the disabled and poor. No longer will we be used as a political pawn in fights they have little, to no say in. Usually ending with them losing more and more of life dependent programs. This act alone is inhuman by our current elected officials.
